STOP. LOOK. BREATHE.

Gratitude #140 - I was given an impromptu gift this evening; tickets to the VSO Maher 2 concert! It was super short notice and I almost convinced myself that there wouldn't be enough time to get ready to go. I'm glad that challenged myself to put skirt on, brush my hair and get the heck out of the house for an evening! I was SO worth it. It's been a long, long time since I've had the opportunity to listen to any live classical music and this was beyond anything that I've ever seen or heard in the flesh. There is so much power in the unified voice of so many instruments. The energy is electrifying. Now, I'm not going to pretend to be able to dissect each movement for you. I'm not going to leave comment about how the violins made my heart soar, or how the french horns made my soul sing. I'm not even going to go on and on about how the harps left me waiting and wanting, or how the vocalists took my breath away. No. I am simply going to tell you that my hands hurt from clapping; you couldn't keep me from joining the standing ovation or from grinning like a fool while doing it. I will tell you that the end of the piece left me empty and hollow; aching for more. I actually had tears in my eyes during the final crescendo. It was awesome and inspiring. Yup, time to practice my ukulele! Thank you for giving me the chance to go, Paul. Oh, and you were right about the photo! 01.23
